Frog Dissection Images:
The dorsal (back) side of the frog is dark-grey and slightly green. The ventral (front) side of the frog is a tan-like color; somewhat like a sand-ish color.
The hind legs only have 5 toes and are webbed. The forelegs have 4 toes and are not webbed. The grass frog which we dissected was 10.5cm. The nicititating membrane (attached to the bottom of the eye) has a clear color. <---- The tympanic membrane ("ears" of the frog; used for hearing) of our frog was 1.6cm in diameter. Obviously, the frog's skin is slimy rather than scaly. The tongue in our frog is attached in the frontside of the mouth. When inserting the probe into the Eustachian tube, the probe shows that the tympanic membrane connects to the Eustachian tube. Structure, Function, and location of various body parts of the frog: |
